Teaching brings energy and creativity into my life every day. Kids are my inspiration and I can’t imagine more meaningful work.
I completed my M.Ed. in Creative, Critical, Collaborative Inquiry in 2015 and am now working as a Faculty Advisor in the Faculty of Education at University of British Columbia. I am learning to help Teacher Candidates make connections between theory and practice and to inspire the young minds of tomorrow. Previously, I taught Grade 6/7 both in regular and Late French Immersion programs.
My passions in education include formative assessment, inquiry, critical and creative thinking, social emotional learning, and educational leadership. I believe that relationships are the foundation of learning and that mistakes are an essential part of the learning process. I strive to create a learning environment that encourages risk taking, nourishes curiosity, and practices compassion.
Outside of school, I dance and travel as often as I can. I love to cook and bake when I don’t have to and can often be found spending time outside on the trails with my husband and my dog. I love to read – books are both my love and my nemesis – and I am on a constant journey of self-discovery.
