I currently teach Grade 6/7 in Surrey, BC. I think we can learn a great deal from kids; they bring energy and creativity into my life every day. I recently completed my M.Ed. in Creative, Critical, Collaborative Inquiry and am now also teaching Elementary French one day a week at the University of British Columbia. I am learning to help teacher candidates make connections between theory and practice.
My passions in education include formative assessment, inquiry, critical and creative thinking, social emotional learning, and educational leadership. I believe that relationships are the foundation of learning and that mistakes are an essential part of the learning process. I strive to create a learning environment that encourages risk taking, nourishes curiosity, and practices compassion.
Outside of school, I dance and travel as often as I can. I love to cook when I don’t have to and can often be found spending time outside on the trails with my husband and my dog. I love to read and I am on a constant journey of self-discovery.
